Well this seemed journal-worthy.

I found this on a friend's website and thought it would be a compelling writing exercise.  Be sure to check out Drew's entry here.
Play a game where you close your eyes very tightly, and when you open your eyes, you have amnesia and you must draw the details of your life from your surroundings.

AM/PM
by Amelia Gray
I open my eyes.  There are two monitors in front of me.  A blank page and a movie.  The movie is about men who dress as women.  I look down to see a hairy body in undershorts.  My legs and neck are sore.

I stand up to observe the room I am in.  There are various items strewn about.  Too many things.

Going around the room, I see a mostly full bottle of bourbon on a dresser next to a flask and other empty beer bottles.  There is a small plastic cylinder which houses some form of asthma medication in front of a large peacock feather.  A pile of clothes composed of what appear to be jeans, black t-shirts, and a mix and match of shorts and sweatshirts.  There is a drum set and guitar nearby.  I pick up the guitar and attempt to play it.  My fingers move clumsily across the fretboard and produce nothing all too alluring.  There is a unicycle under the bed.  I decide not to try my luck.  I see several books lying around the floor and desk.  There are too many things.  I focus back on the desk where I woke up.

There are car keys and a wallet.  The identification card inside shows a picture of a young boy born in 1986.  His name is Paul Chakerian.  There is a credit card with a kitten printed on it and about 12 dollars in cash.  There is a cellular phone.

I stand up to to find a mirror.  The image I see before me vaguely reflects that of the identification card.  I must be this Paul Chakerian, owner of 12 dollars and a guitar he (I) can't play.  I look at the pupils of this creature in front of me; constricting and dilating as his eyes adjust to strange light.

Now what?  I go back to the room and sift through the junk, trying to piece together something tangible.

Well that was kind of fun.  I could write forever about that but of course I wanted to stick to the interesting things.  I wouldn't say it's entirely compelling, but it is interesting how much stock I've invested in my possessions.  I drink beer, I try to learn musical instruments, I ride a unicycle, I have some clothes that cover my body.  To some extent, these things do define my sense of self on a superficial level.  However, my thoughts are intelligence are crucial as well.  And somehow I am instilled with an insatiable desire to share all these aspects of my life and learn new things from others.
