On a critical note, my friend informs me that I can't claim half hipster status because I have brakes on my fixed gear bicycle. Fuck me for thinking it was cool to be safe. My legs will never be tiny enough to fit into those super thin jeans, anyway.
On another super critical note that will change your lives forever (that's why you are reading this right now), I am getting a tattoo. I don't know when, because I need to perfect the imagery. And the imagery needs to align with this idea I have. I want it to be a representation of my essence. It should represent a duality. On one side it will be synthetic. Basically everything I have control over will be manifested into half of an icon of sorts. The other half shall be anything erratic and spontaneous. Some sort of organic growth with no real path or set future. So I imagine it to be a gear that is decaying and breaking apart into vines that spread with no real pattern. The general shape of the icon will be circular. There will be a void in the center of the device which will represent, obviously, nothingness. It's the most humbling and excruciating - the anguish of insignificance. The tattoo will also embody my free will. I am a free creature, born to create for any reason and no reason at all. I acknowledge my past and genetic limitations; they are a factor of my life but do not control me. They are simultaneously everything I am and everything I don't want to be. Thus, I will constantly create a new self in the image I see fit. I am not this body, I am how my mind affects humanity.
I often think, why get a tattoo? This fleshy corpse that I am trapped in will eventually go to waste, but I suppose I am allowed to alter it however I see fit. I want to mark upon my body something that represents who I am at this time in my life. I feel proud of myself even though I have no monetary success to show for it. But I have acquired a wealth of other things that make me the sterling individual I am. And I don't gloat often. I'm just saying that I am content and this tattoo should mark the culmination of my beliefs. To quote Tommy Rogers -- I did love, I did laugh, I did live.
I think I've justified my hippie obligations.
